Location guides are almost dead
War between location sites allmost over! Did you recognize it? During late 2010's years there had been just a view of them around the internet with a global value. Location guides! Some of you might remember QYPE with their slogan 'Disover & Recommend' which was a hugh database of collected locations. It's popularity exploded around 2009 after maptheq.com put an interactive map over the locations similar to what google maps looks today. Later QYPE was sold to yelp.com which lead then also to the shutdown of maptheq.com, the domain is now, a chineese website. If you follow the user activities & how up to date they are on yelp it's clear that they missed the train finally. Sites like foursquare.com gave a harbour to most users fleeing from other sites which worked fine for a while. But then came swarm and foursquare users had been forced to use the APP.
